New Lawyer for Mumbai ‘Attacker’

A new lawyer has been appointed for the sole surviving suspected gunman from last year’s Mumbai attacks, after the first was abruptly sacked at the trial.
Abbas Kazmi, a top criminal lawyer from Mumbai, was appointed to replace Anjali Waghmare, who was dismissed for “professional misconduct”.
Ms Waghmare was alleged to have also signed to represent an attack victim.
Pakistani national Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab is charged with murder and waging war on India.
He appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday but the legal wrangling has led to another delay. Proceedings were due to start last week but security at the courtroom was not ready.
More than 170 people died when 10 gunmen attacked the city last November.
Mr Qasab, 21, faces the death penalty if he is convicted. >>>
