Iran: Israel to Blame for Egypt-Hezbollah Row

Iran’s foreign minister accused Israel on Wednesday of sparking a row between Egypt and Hezbollah as a way of intervening in inter-Lebanese politics.
Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki said that Egypt’s allegations that Hezbollah was seeking to stir unrest on Egyptian soil amounted to “an old trick” aimed at influencing the upcoming parliamentary elections in Lebanon, the AFP news agency reported.
“Labels against… Hezbollah and [Secretary-General] Hassan Nasrallah are an old and frayed trick and will not achieve anything,” Mottaki was quoted as telling the Iranian news agency Fars.
In alluding to Israel, Mottaki said “hands from outside the region” were seeking to “create problems” for the Lebanese elections, which are scheduled to take place on June 7. >>>
