Iran Threat Just a Myth: Russian Ambassador

The Russian envoy to the US says the Iran threat is just a myth, stressing that there is no need for US missile interceptors in the region.

Sergei Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the US, stated that Iran poses no threat to the US and criticized US President Barack Obama’s plan to review the plan to establish a missile defense system in Europe, AFP reported.
Former George W. Bush was pursuing a plan to install 10 missile interceptors in Poland and related radar stations in the Czech Republic, mainly as a move to counter Iran’s missile might.
The Obama administration has declared that it is reviewing the proposed missile shield system to see if it is militarily justified and cost effective.
“I don’t see any threat to the United States coming from Iran anytime soon,” Kislyak told a conference of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on Tuesday.
Tehran has repeatedly declared that its defense systems are only meant for self-defense.
